How to Receive a Massage
-
Inform the therapist about areas of your body that are injured, sore or tense. Also mention any medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, cardiac problem, or recent surgery.
-
Close your eyes and allow yourself to relax completely. Focus your attention on breathing which should be slow, deep and even.
-
Conversation can be distracting so keep conversation focused on feedback about the massage.
-
As the body releases tension, the mind will let go as well. If you suddenly feel sad, angry or joyful allow yourself to express those feelings.
-
The best way to receive most forms of massage is unclothed. The therapist will keep you
covered and is sensitive to your need for privacy. You are more than welcome to keep
undergarments on or wear a bathing suit.
-
Contrary to our society’s notion, massage is not a sexual service, but rather an ancient healing art. Any sexual behavior is inappropriate and will result in termination of the treatment.
- We hope that your massage is both enjoyable and beneficial and that massage will become a part of your healthcare regime.
